First of all, thank you so much for creating for me!

I'm pretty easy to please and while I don't have specific wishes for all the characters and groups I requested, I wouldn't be any less happy about fanfiction for the ones I have no or less elaborate prompts for. And if you want to write something different than the prompts I posted, please do so!
I've sorted the various settings and tags into settings. Please use strg+f to get to the ones that are relevant for you. I'm really sorry for being so wordy!
I generally don't really separate between the different fandoms, so if a worldbuilding tag or idea from one fandom or setting inspires something with a character from a different one, go ahead and mix them! Also, feel free to add other characters than I requested if it works for the story
First, a few general things:

Do-not-wants:
  • non-con /dub-con
  • A/B/O
  • incest
  • underage
  • reader insert
  • a person falling from our world into middle-earth
  • PWP

Dislikes (but fine to add if the plot requires it):
  • animal death
  • eye trauma

General likes
  •     siblings interacting
  •     female characters
  •     humor, crack, H/C, fluff, drama, tragedy
  •     friendship to relationship
  •     m/m and f/f
  •     worldbuilding
  •     cultures (including ceremonies and rituals) and cultural differences
  •     prophetic dreams, visions, shared dreams, ghosts
  •     time-travel, reincarnations (there are some interesting worldbuilding prompts in this exchange and I'm not sure I always have the right characters requested for them, so these tropes might be work-arounds...)
  •     the uncanny, eldritch creatures and settings, horror
  •     animal characters showing behaviours that are typical for their species
  •     plants, gardening, landscapes
  •     difficult decisions
  •     characters who keep fighting despite the odds
  •     characters showing an unexpected side
  •     characters who do not get along at first coming to respect and even like each other
  •     characters being experts or geeky about something

Fandom: The Lord of the Rings (Movies)
Rohan

Original Shieldmaiden of Rohan (Lotr movies) Théodred (LotR Movies) Group: Éomer & Éowyn (LotR movies) Group: Éomer & Éowyn & Théodred (LotR movies) Group: Éomer & Théodred (LotR movies) Group: Éowyn & Merry (LotR movies) Group: Éowyn & the Witch-King (LotR movies) Group: Éowyn & Théoden (LotR movies) Group: Éowyn & Théodred (LotR movies) Group: Théodred & Wormtongue (LotR movies)
Worldbuilding: Life at Edoras (LotR movies) Worldbuilding: Life in Rohan (Lotr movies) Worldbuilding: potatoes and tomatoes (LotR movies) Worldbuilding: Rohirric culture (LotR movies) Worldbuilding: Shieldmaidens of Rohan (LotR movies)
Worldbuilding: Sneaking off to war (LotR movies) Worldbuilding: Spies of Saruman (LotR movies) Worldbuilding: Théodred Lives (LotR Movies)
Anything involving life in Rohan would be great! I also love the landscape there, so if you feel like featuring that or the plants and wild animals there, go ahead!
I’d also be interested in anything featuring Rohirric culture, whether you tie that in with old English culture, any other culture or go with something original. I’m also interested in the in-verse origins of the Rohirrim and any myths / legends that are connected with that.
Slice of life is always great! I’d love reading about ordinary or not so ordinary interactions between any of the characters, whether that’s supportive, conflict or reconciliation.
Shieldmaidens sneaking off to war, improvising for weapons and supplies and/or seeing the contrast between normal life and war would be interesting. What are their motivations? Is there a real tradition of this, or is it something that just pops up once in a while? Is there a group of shieldmaidens that support each other? How do the male warriors react? Was there a community of shieldmaidens riding to Gondor that Eowyn wasn’t aware of? Or did they interact after all?
I’d love to see Théodred’s interactions with his cousins. It would also be interesting to see him falling under Wormtongue’s influence. I’d love to see him be more than a shining hero: give him some struggles, doubts, perhaps let him make some mistakes or morally doubtful decisions.
If you go with the “Théodred lives” AU, I’d love to see how that changes the interactions within the family. If he wasn’t heavily injured at all, what is his role in the war? How does he interact with the other characters?
Or perhaps he was so heavily injured that nobody thought he would survive and things played out as they did in canon, except that when they returned to Edoras, Théoden was recovering. How did that affect his relationship with Éomer? Did he struggle because he as a king had barely participated in the great events of his times while most of his family and people had?
Or perhaps his death was faked so that he could lead a quiet life in the Westfold breeding horses, growing wheat or doing something else entirely.

I also love seeing members of different cultures interact, so I’d be interested in seeing people from Rohan and Gondor (or elsewhere) interact. Is there a lot of culture clash? Or do they find similarities where they weren’t expecting any? Do Éowyn and Éomer compare notes when meeting again after a few years of their new lives? Or will we get a glimpse into their letters? (I know I’m not actually requesting it, but feel free to add their canon partners

Witch-King
Witch-King of Angmar Worldbuilding: What do Ringwraiths think about? (LotR movies)
I always love stories about origins and how characters came to be how they are. So it would be interesting to see something like that for the Witch-king.
His thought processes after his corruption would also be interesting. Is he (or she?) happy with the way things are or did he imagine them to turn out very differently? Does he have regrets? Does he ever question Sauron and his decisions? What are his interactions with the other Ring-Wraiths like?
I’d also be fine with something humorous about him, or even crack.

Reforging Anduril
Group: the smiths who reforge Anduril (LotR movies) Worldbuilding: the smiths who reforge Anduril are Elladan and Elrohir (LotR movies)
Feel free to layer this with symbolism, rituals, myths, legends, prophecies, superstitions…
Discussions about what the reforging and the events of LotR will mean to them, their family, Rivendell and their future would also be great.
It would be interesting to have the smiths be Elladan and Elrohir (I’d prefer if you avoided the “constantly funny twins” trope for this), but I’m also happy to read about random Rivendell smiths.

Fandom: The Hobbit - J. R. R. Tolkien
Dorwinion

Worldbuilding: Dorwinion (Hobbit books)
Original Merchant Character (Hobbit books)
Original Character(s) (Hobbit books)
I’ve always had a real soft spot for Dorwinion, even though we know barely anything about it. So anything fleshing out its history and culture would be really great!

Elves of Mirkwood
Worldbuilding: The Elvenking's magic (Hobbit book) Worldbuilding: Elves of Mirkwood and their forest (Hobbit book)
Thranduil (Hobbit books)
Group: Bilbo Baggins & Thranduil (Hobbit book)
Group: The Elvenking & his children
I’d be interested in seeing the daily life or the horrors of Mirkwood explored.
For Bilbo & Thranduil, I’d love to see something dealing with Thranduil’s fascination with Bilbo. I didn’t get the impression Thranduil is generally that friendly towards strangers, so him naming Bilbo “elf-friend” so soon is interesting. Is it the fascination with this odd creature? Does he remember early hobbits from when they dwelt near the Greenwood? Does anyone who gives Thranduil sparkly things get named elf-friend? Does he perhaps sense the Ring?
And if you want to add Gollum to the mix, is Thranduil oddly friendly to him because he senses the similarity to Bilbo?

Erebor
Worldbuilding: The Arkenstone (Hobbit books) Worldbuilding: Dragon Magic (Hobbit book) Worldbuilding: The effects of Smaug's corpse on the area around Laketown (Hobbit book)
Carc (Hobbit books)
Roac (Hobbit books)
Group: Thrain & Thror & Thorin Oakenshield (Hobbit book)
Group: Dwalin/Thorin
Thorin Oakenshield (Hobbit movie)
Smaug (Hobbit books)
I’d love anything exploring the ravens of Erebor, whether that’s before Smaug came, how they dealt with occupying the mountain (they do like shiny things themselves, so did they perhaps occasionally steal a few trinkets from him?) to how things changed for them after the dwarves returned. I’d also enjoy seeing them meddling in the affairs of others.
For Smaug, I’d be interested in reading something about his early years before he came to Erebor, or about how he passed his time while in Erebor. Did he have contact to other dragons occasionally? I also like reading about his magic and the lingering evil in the spot he died. Is there perhaps still a little bit of his conciousness left in that spot?
I enjoy things about the Arkenstone influencing and changing the people around it.

The Shire
Worldbuilding: The significance of silver spoons among hobbits (Hobbit book) Worldbuilding: Relationship between the Sackville-Bagginses and the Bag End Bagginses (Hobbit book)
Bilbo Baggins (Hobbit book)
Belladonna Took (Hobbit book)
Group: The Three Remarkable Daughters of the Old Took (Hobbit book)
Group: Gandalf & The Old Took (Hobbit book)
I’d like to read something about how Gandalf and the Old Took met and how their friendship developped. Likewise, anything about the adventures of Belladonna and/or her sisters would be fun. And I always love a bit of rivalry between the Sackville-Bagginses and the Bag End Bagginses. We only see Bilbo’s and Frodo’s side of the story, so seeing the Sackville-Bagginses side might be interesting (especially since we know that Bilbo isn’t always an entirely reliable narrator).

Woodsmen annd Beornings
Worldbuilding: Necromancers (Hobbit book) Worldbuilding: in universe fairy tales (Hobbit books)
Gollum (Hobbit Book)
Original Woodsman Character (Hobbit books)
Beorn (Hobbit book)
Group: The Beornings (Hobbit books)
Group: Beorn & Original Skinchangers (Hobbit book)

I love that Gollum becomes a part of the mythology of the woodsmen as a baby-stealing demon, so anything featuring that would be interesting.
I’d also like to see anything exploring the relationship between Beorn, the Beornings, the Woodsmen and possible other Skinchangers. how do they deal with the darkness falling on Mirkwood? Do some of them perhaps become necromancers themselves?

Fandom: The Lord of the Rings - J. R. R. Tolkien
Rivendell and Rangers

Halbarad (LOTR books) Group: Aragorn & Halbarad (LOTR books) Group: Celebrían/Elrond & Arwen & Elladan & Elrohir (LotR books) Aragorn (LOTR books) Group: Arwen & Halbarad (LOTR books)
All the family feelings would be great!
I’m also interested in seeing the relationships between Rivendell and the Rangers being explored. Are there perhaps some bitter feelings that not all children get that safe upbringing? Does Aragorn have to learn a lot of new things when he joins the Rangers? How did Arwen get to know Halbarad? Was Halbarad perhaps raised in Rivendell as well so that Aragorn wouldn’t be the only mortal child there?

Historical
Original Character(s) from Arthedain / Cardolan / Rhudaur
Faramir son of Ondoher (LotR books)
Group: barbarous fisher-folk that dwelt between the Gwathló and the Angren (LotR books)
I just love everything that deals with Middle-earth’s history! I’d enjoy anything dealing with the crucial moments of the Northern Kingdoms or just some culture or slice of life!
The same goes for the barbarous fisher-folk. What were their fairy tales, their traditions, their interactions with others like?
I’d love to learn more about Faramir and how his relationship to his other family members was. And of course, it would be really interesting to explore his ties to the Éothéod. How did the Leader of the Éothéod recognize him? If you want to go the route of Faramir being in a relationship with a member of the Éothéod, I’d be open to that too.

The Shire
Fredegar Bolger (LotR books)
Farmer Maggot (LotR books)
Group: Farmer Maggot's Dogs & Sauron (LotR books)
Gollum (LOTR Books) Group: Gollum & Original Fish Character (LotR books)
Fredegar Bolger is one of my underappreciated favourites! I find him so relatable in prefering the relative safety of home – and then the horrors find him there! So anything about his life and experiences would be wonderful.
Farmer Maggot seems like an interesting character in general. What kinds of things does he know and did he experience that the average hobbit is completely unaware of?
I loved the worldbuilding tags for Sauron in this. The Ring having another Master (is it Farmer Maggot? Someone else?) and Sauron destoying the One Ring himself had me hooked, along with Farmer Maggot’s dogs and probably Farmer Maggot himself (and maybe even the Fox?). Go wild with this, make it as cracky, AU or serious as you like! (I’d just prefer if the dogs (and fox, if you add it) survive… XD) If you want to send Sauron into retirement after that and add a few hijinks…
As for why I added Gollum to the Shire mix: Gandalf believes in the best in people and it is decided that Gollum will be sent to the Shire for rehabilitation. Crack welcome!
Or just write anything else featuring Gollum (and perhaps this mysterious fish character), I’m open to everything!

Gondor
Original Character(s) (LOTR Books)
Group: Beregond & Faramir (LOTR books)
Group: Finduilas & Imrahil & Ivriniel (LotR) Group: Lothíriel & Amrothos & Elphir & Imrahil (LotR) Group: Boromir & Faramir (LotR)
I’m here for all the sibling interactions! Support, rivalry, arguments, reconciliations, having each others backs…
I’d also love seeing the friendship between Beregond and Faramir being explored.
I’m currently quite interested in Dol Amroth and the other coastal areas of Gondor, so if you want to throw that in, that would be great! Gondor as a multicultural melting pot after the war would also be interesting to explore.

Original Tree Character (LotR books)
See Silmarillion prompts.

Elf Groups
Group: Celeborn & Thranduil (LotR books)
I’d like seeing the relationship between the elves between the two realms explored. I think it’s not always smooth sailing, since there often seems to be a bit of a hierarchy between the different elf groups and since Thranduil has to ward off darkness without a ring in his kingdom (or is he happy about that?)

Fandom: The Hobbit (Jackson Movies)
Mirkwood

Worldbuilding: Fisher King Effect of Mirkwood's Darkening on Thranduil (Hobbit movies) Worldbuilding: Elves as Eldritch Abominations (Hobbit movies) Worldbuilding: Mirkwood Medicine (Hobbit movies)
Thranduil (Hobbit Movies) Tauriel (Hobbit Movies) Group: Tauriel & Thranduil (Hobbit movies)
I love anything exploring the connection between Thranduil and his realm.
I also like the idea of him being a bit of an adoptive parent for Tauriel, so anything from happy childhood scenes over their bitter disagreement and perhaps a reconciliation would be great!

Laketown and Dale

Worldbuilding: Laketown Life (Hobbit movies)
Hilda Bianca (Hobbit Movies) Group: Hilda Bianca/Tauriel Group: Hilda Bianca & Tauriel Group: Bain & Bard & Sigrid & Tilda (Hobbit movies)
I don’t really have any special prompts for this, just the usual: everyday life, traditions and myths, family things.
And of course femslash of a pairing I haven’t encountered yet, or friendship (or do they have some kind of rivalry over who is the better healer?) between two women I haven’t seen many stories for. (I headcanon Hilda Bianca as being the aunt of Bard’s children, up to you if you use that or not.)

Erebor
Group: Thorin/Dwalin (Hobbit Movies) Group: Dwalin & Thorin (Hobbit Movies) Group: Dwalin & Balin (Hobbit Movies)
Feel free to set this in any part of their timeline. I don’t really have any specific prompts for them even though I love reading about all of them!

Fandom: The Silmarillion - J. R. R. Tolkien
I mostly just picked the world-building tags that I liked most for this and a few characters that might fit. So just pick and mix!

Group: Earendil & Elrond & Elros (Silm)
Group: Eärendil/Elwing & Elrond & Elros (Silm)Fanfic
Bëor
Group: Bëor/Finrod (Silm)
Group: Fingon/Maedhros (Silm)
Original Female Character of the house of Finwë (Silm)
Group: The Blue Wizards & the people of the East (Silm)
Group: Alatar & Pallando (Silm)
Original Tree Character (Silm)
Original Drúedain Character (Silm)
Mîm (Silm)
Original Character(s) (Silm)
Gil-galad (Silm)
Celebrimbor (Silm)
Narvi (Silm) Group: Celebrimbor/Narvi (Silm)

Doriath and Nan Elmoth
Group: Eöl & Melian
Group: Eöl/Thingol
I'd love to see what Melian and Eöl did with the land that makes it so uncanny and hard to navigate. Something about their slightly strained and terse neighbourly relationship would also be interesting. Or perhaps they have an outright neighbourhood dispute going on, petty revenge and all? If you want to go the route of Melian losing all patience and going all out on Eöl, go ahead!
I’d prefer Eöl/Thingol to be messed up and toxic rather than fluffy. Dub-con is fine for this one.<

Worldbuilding: Eldritch Peredhil (Silm)
In what ways are they Eldritch? How does it influence their interactions with others? Feel free to make this as creepy, tragic, or humourous as you like!
Worldbuilding: Consequences of long-term exposure to the Silmarils (Silm)
I love everything about the Light of the two trees and thus also the silmarils changing the people exposed to it. Go as creepy as you like!
Is this perhaps part of why Peredhil are Eldritch?

Worldbuilding: Crew of the Vingilot (Silm)
I’d love to read about the adventures they had while trying to find Valinor. I’m sure it can’t all have been happy sailing (to say the least), so how did that affect the crew and their relationship to each other. It would also be interesting to have something about the other crew members sailing back east without Earendil after they reached Valinor and what their lives after that were like.
Feel free to combine this prompt with the one about eldritch Peredhil.

Worldbuilding: Early Hobbits in the Greenwood (Silm)
What traditions and stories did they have? Were there already similar customs to what we know from the Shire? What was completely different? What were their interactions with others like?

Worldbuilding: Extinct Flora and/or Fauna (e.g. dinosaurs) in Middle-Earth (Silm)
Does a character find fossils and wonder about the creatures in question? Does a character research them?
Or do certain ancient plants and animals still exist in a few niches?
It would be great if you didn't limit it just to dinosaurs!

Worldbuilding: Environment and Biomes of Valinor (Silm)
Does a character discover them through their journeys? And perhaps tell stories about them later? Or are some plants and animals from Valinor introduced to Middle-Earth?

Worldbuilding: Motivations of Sentient Trees (Silm)
What did they witness and how did they interpret this? How did they react?
It would be interesting to see this tied into one of the other prompts, perhaps Himring/Himling or something happening in Nan Elmoth.

Worldbuilding: Sentient Himring and Isle of Himling Worldbuilding: Lands Holding Memory (Silm)
Feel free to set this in later ages. Does a trip to Himling become a common dare for young people in Middle-Earth? Is Himling sick of this? How haunted is Himling? Does Himring/Himling manage to influence certain aspects of history?
Or focus on any other area of Middle-Earth (and Valinor) to add take on things. Can the different areas communicate in some way?

Worldbuilding: Bread Literally Won't Rise for Elves Who Identify as Male (Silm)
Perhaps Maedros or Fingon wants to bake something for the other one and it just won’t work, no matter how often he tries?
Is this also true for Peredhil? If not, that might lead to others thinking they are a bit Eldritch.
It would also be interesting to see an elf react to a male human or dwarf baking bread without issues.

...I have to ask - is this a fanon trope, or is this deep canon lore that I've never come across before? It's glorious.
